Teacher of the Visually Impaired 

Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs) are licensed providers Pre-K through 21 years old in the state of Illinois. House of Light provides direct and consultative instruction to meet the unique needs of the individual who is blind or visually impaired. We provide instruction that is tailored from the Expanded Core Curriculum. Services Provided by Teachers of the Visually Impaired:

• Perform functional vision and learning media assessments

• Interpret eye medical reports as they relate to educational environments

• Contribute to the development of the IEP

• Recommend appropriate specialized evaluations as needed, such as low vision, orientation and mobility, psycho-social, and adaptive physical education

• Consult with diagnosticians, classroom teachers, students, and parents concerning appropriate evaluations, modification, and test administration

• Provide Braille Instruction
